Memorial Scholarship

2008 Applications are Due May 31!!!

Background Information

This $250 scholarship was established in 2006 to honor the memory of John Mattern, the 2005 W3B Section Chief of the Order of the Arrow.  John also played a vital role in the campaign for promoting the OA High Adventure programs within the section.  This award is made available to all Arrowmen within Section W3B who wish to attend an Order of the Arrow High Adventure Program.

Arrowmen who meet the minimum criteria are not guaranteed a scholarship.  Applicants are evaluated on the premise of their overall service and leadership within their lodge, unit, and school.

Requirements

  1. You must be an active, registered member of your Lodge and Unit within Section W3B.
  2. You must be accepted into the High Adventure program of your choice by the National Office.
  3. You must meet all of the program requirements as stated in the program applications.

All money allocated can either be used to cover transportation costs and/or program fees.  The scholarship may also be given as a reimbursement if the award is given after all course and traveling fees are due.  The scholarship awards will be based on merit and accomplishments.  Arrowmen may receive no more than one award per year.

Section W3B of the Order of the Arrow expects all OA High Adventure participants to remain active in their Lodge and Unit, conduct themselves in a Scout-like manner, and fulfill their obligations as Arrowmen to Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service.
