HISTORY Section W3B | News and Updates | Conclaves and Leaders | Bald Eagle Award | Patches Who was Bald Eagle? Lloyd "Bald Eagle" Labreacht is the man responsible for the Bald Eagle Perpetual Trophy - an award for participation in the Section W3B "Netami Wulit" Conclave. It has been presented each year since 1981. The second edition of "A History of the Order of the Arrow" includes a dedication to Lloyd for all of his efforts in the early years of the Order of the Arrow. "Bald Eagle" (his Vigil Honor name) was one of the founding members of Tehama Lodge 485 and was the Lodge Adviser for many years. He attended many NOAC's where he was on the medical staff. He was also an Associate Section Adviser for many years where his knowledge, interest and concern was invaluable to the Advisers with whom he served and the many hundreds of young Arrowmen with whom he came in contact. "Bald Eagle" spent countless hours working on camp Lassen, the summer camp of the Mt. Lassen Area Council, as well as Camp Bristow Hood which preceded Camp Lassen. He recieved numerous awards, including the Silver Beaver for his efforts on behalf of the youth. He attended every event and always volunteered to give rides to these events to one and all. This warm hearted, caring individual was a father figure to many, many individuals and would often help a young Scout who was shy or unsure of himself. You could always find Lloyd working in the Section W3b Conclave trading Post. A person with a huge patch colection, "Bald Eagle" would encourage young Arrowmen in the skill of patch trading by giving them patches to get thier collection going. He also watched to be sure that an adult or older Scout did not try to take advantage of the younger Scouts. "Bald Eagle's" extensive patch collection and Indian regalia is now under the guarded care of Steve Estes, 1986 Section W3B Vice-Chief. Lloyd Labreacht, who passed away in 1992, was truly representative of all good things in Scouting and the Order of the Arrow. Mike Lenahan (Yo-Se-Mite), Section W3B Adviser 1983-84 fondly remembers him. "When I became an Associate Section Adviser in Section W3B, Lloyd took me under his wing and became my mentor. We became very special friends - more like family. When I became Section Adviser, I looked to "Bald Eagle" for guidance and support. He never let me down." Past Recipients of the Bald Eagle
